A biblical introduction to the Spirit's presence, gifts and empowering work in the life of every believer.

You will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses. — Acts 1:8

The promised presence

Jesus promised the Holy Spirit as guide, comforter and source of power. The Spirit dwells within believers, forms Christlike character and equips the Church to share the gospel.

Pentecost reminds us that God's presence is not distant. The Spirit gathers people, gives courage and makes worship a living response to God.

Gifts that build the Church

The New Testament describes spiritual gifts, including tongues, as gifts of grace. They are received with humility, practised in love and used for prayer, witness and the strengthening of the church community.
